Safety and security was paramount in the development of the new Jeep Compass, which offers more than 70 available active and passive safety and security features, setting the standard in the Jeep lineup.

Standard safety systems on the new Compass range include active driver assist systems such as Forward Collision Warning-Plus and LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus which combine radar and camera technology to detect the vehicle's position, determine potential danger of an impact and avoid accidents by alerting the drivers with audible, visual and tactile warnings. These systems also assist with driver response by applying the brakes and leveraging the electronic power steering (EPS) under certain circumstances.

Additional, advanced safety features available as options on the new Jeep Compass include systems specifically developed to actively assist the drivers during highway trips and provide them with added peace of mind, such as Adaptive Cruise Control - which maintains distance from the vehicle ahead and can, under certain conditions, bring the vehicle to a full stop without driver intervention - and Blind-spot Monitoring, which aids the drivers when changing lanes and notifies of vehicles in their blind spot via illuminated icons on the side-view mirror and with a driver-selected audible chime.

Compass also offers specific systems to take out the stress from parking maneuvers, such as ParkView rear backup camera with dynamic grid lines - which displays the area immediately behind the vehicle on the navigation screen when the transmission is shifted into Reverse, Rear Cross Path detection which notifies drivers backing out of parking spaces of vehicles crossing behind via illuminated icons on the side-view mirror and with a driver-selected audible chime - and Automated Parallel and Perpendicular Park assist - a driving feature that simplifies the parking task.

For maximum safety on trail or any off-road terrain, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk also features, as standard, Hill-descent Control - an off-road, downhill low-speed limiter. Hill Descent enables smooth and controlled hill descent in rough terrain without the driver needing to touch the brake pedal.

New, fourth-generation Uconnect systems provide a range of available handsfree communication, entertainment and navigation features

Jeep Compass is the first Jeep SUV to offer the new fourth generation Uconnect system, delivering communication, entertainment and navigation features that enhance both the driving experience and the onboard comfort of passengers. Jeep Compass is equipped with the Uconnect 7.0 or 8.4 NAV systems. Both have been improved to include easy-to-use features, enhanced processing power, faster start-up times and touchscreens that display high-resolution graphics. These new features significantly enhance the user interface providing a high definition screen with pinch and zoom capability and a customisable menu bar, using the Drag and Drop feature.

Functions of the new Uconnect system also include hands free calling, navigation and text-to-talk features with natural language voice recognition technology for a safe, comfortable and connected everyday driving experience. Built-in radio options are also available to allow drivers and passengers to stream audio through Bluetooth or plug-in compatible personal devices into USB or AUX ports. Uconnect navigation with turn-by-turn directions is standard on the Uconnect 8.4 NAV and features a one-step voice entry system so Jeep customers can easily say the address and navigate on the go.

Jeep Compass models equipped with the Uconnect 7.0 or 8.4 NAV systems also include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (which come standard on Limited and Trailhawk - this will vary by market) that allow customers to seamlessly integrate their phone's voice control systems with the car's built-in display and controls and to use a full range of infotainment features.

Jeep Skills: the Jeep unique application that measures off-road driving performance in real time

For customers eager to enhance their driving experience and to live unique off-road adventures in pure Jeep style, the Limited and Trailhawk models feature Uconnect 8.4 NAV with Jeep Skills. This easy-to-use application provides off-road-specific indexes that allow drivers to monitor their performance on trails.

By using Jeep Skills, customers can learn more about the off-road capabilities of the Jeep Compass, better understand what the new vehicle is able to do, and therefore fully exploit its potential. Jeep Skills delivers useful information on the vehicle's off-road systems and, provides real time feedback on the drivers' 4x4 driving on the 8.4-inch touchscreen through a set of specific off-road parameters, including drive, roll, pitch, pressure and altitude.

In addition, specific sections provide useful information on the vehicle's parameters, including battery level, oil pressure, steering angle, G force, pressure on the acceleration/brakes, engine oil and water temperature, and also on its performance as the 0-50 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration, braking distance and speed.

Drivers can also select through a number of recommended routes and retrieve helpful information on a series of courses. They can also store and share their favourite off-road routes/itineraries with the Jeep Community and all Jeep Skills users. Based on driving performance and goals attained while driving along the recommended courses, drivers will receive official awards - called 'Badges' ' each corresponds to a different level of off-road ability. All awards won will be displayed on the 'Badges' page, just like a virtual showcase.

7-inch LED driver information display: with a wide range of customisation options

A reconfigurable 3.5-inch driver information display (DID) enhances the functionality of the instrument cluster on the Sport and Longitude models, while a 7-inch full-colour DID is offered as standard on Limited and Trailhawk models.

The 7-inch full-colour DID is designed to visually communicate information, using graphics and text, quickly and easily and features a reconfigurable function that enables drivers to personalise information inside the instrument cluster.

The DID offers drivers a wide range of customisation options, from a basic speed readout to specific vehicle status information. Operation of the display is clearly communicated to users with easy-to-understand icons and instructions. Using buttons on the steering wheel, drivers can customise the screen with as much or as little information as they desire.

BeatsAudio enhances the listening experience for Compass customers

Music enthusiasts, looking to further enhance their experience onboard the new Jeep Compass, can choose an available BeatsAudio system on the Compass Limited and Trailhawk models.

BeatsAudio features nine speakers, including two speakers in the instrument panel, two front door speakers, two rear door speakers, two rear door tweeters and a DVC subwoofer and 12-channel amplifier. BeatsAudio is handcrafted by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, the talent behind many hit songs - their countless hours of experience in the studio working with world-class artists is translated into every BeatsAudio product, offering a unique blend of science and artistry applied to a distinct tuning process.
